Guten Tag

Beer tents, scary looking rides and a multitude of German costumes (which clearly made an impression on the Mr.).  These are among some of the main takeaways from Oktoberfest (an annual bash that has been celebrating the marriage of King Ludwig I since the 19th century).  However, the real show stealer was Munich.  It's a beautiful, clean, and friendly city (ahem, no offense Paris) with lots to see and do.  The Fall air has rolled in and pumpkins abounded at the lovely Viktualienmarkt Beer Garden (a mix between a beer garden and outdoor farmers market).  From lunch at the birthplace of weissbier (my favorite German wheat beer) to an evening at the Augustiner beer tent with old and new friends, Oktoberfest was a great excuse for a weekend in Munich and I can't think of a better way to ring in the Fall.

Auf Wiedersehen!
